Drunken Ramblings From a Few Weeks Ago

2006-06-01 - 12:22 p.m.

The way a can of beer can momentarily erase your overanxious anxieties, like the way a fog rolls off of the sea and obscures your view of land.

The way a movie can sometimes remind you of things that you've temporarily forgotten, but now seem so obvious.

The way a coin really has more than two sides. One more that wrapped itself around you and proceeds to infinite in your mind in its ever elongating quest to determine your fate.

The way a cigarette can breathe you in, permeate your lungs with innocence, and then take it away.

The way a woman attracts you to all the things inside of you that you feel you can't be on the outside. The public persona you can carress but cannot become/release.

The way the internet connects your brain to a network of information and stimuli that you are too afraid to seek in the real world- where doubt, shame, and risk keep us from seeking what would truly make us free.

The way the international students sit downstairs with their laptops in the wireless connections and their webcam conversations transmit love through the ether from one heart to another, seperated by continent but not sentiment.

The way our body betrays our mind with its primordial urges, emotions, and instincts, while our mind betrays our body with its constant need for information, logic, and coherence.

The way a typewriter or keyboard warps our thoughts into lines of black on white that mirror but do not reflect the turmoil that colludes within our souls to set our thoughts and ideas free.

The way I sit here staring while not knowing where I'm going, but only being, and that is enough because it is freeing in all the ways that I fear it may be.

The way words can almost translate your internal world into something that is legible and palatable for others to comprehend, but not quite, because one reality is not really intelligible to the world that another constructs and creates within their own mind. But almost.
